VACAVILLE – Travis Credit Union welcomed Richard Word and Sal Vaca to its board of directors at the board meeting in August.

The credit union’s board of directors is made up of volunteers who reflect the diversity and interests of the organization’s membership, according to a press release.

As a member-owned non-profit cooperative, Travis Credit Union’s board of directors is elected by its members to be stewards of the resources entrusted to them, according to the press release.

Word and Vaca are both graduates of the Long-Term Volunteer Training Program, which requires a one-year commitment and includes monthly courses covering all aspects of the financial institution, from strategy to technology and management. risk management.

Word fills the seat left vacant in May by Patricia Moreno.

He has 30 years of law enforcement experience, including nine years as Chief of Police in Vacaville.

Word has served on the board of directors of the Vacaville Neighborhood Boys and Girls Club and the Opportunity House, reflecting his commitment to the well-being of the community.

Vaca joins as an associate member, bringing with it a wealth of experience in the Contra Costa County region. Vaca has over 30 years of experience in the workforce development field.

He has served as Executive Director of the Richmond Workforce Development Board for the past 18 years, where he has implemented numerous award-winning programs, including the nationally recognized RichmondBuild program.

Moreno, who has headed the board for the past seven years and has been a member of the board since 2004, is now an official director emeritus serving as an advisor to the board.

Deborah Aspling was elected in April to lead the board, joining Vice President Kevin Burke, Treasurer Doug Beaumont and Secretary Mary Coburn.

The non-executive directors are Len Augustine, Dee Alarcon, JP Kirkley, Brian Howell and the newly elected Word. Tim Murrill remains Associate Director, alongside Associate Member Vaca. Tom Kulinski remains director emeritus and is joined by Moreno.

The supervisory committee remains unchanged: Tim Truesdale (chairman), Johanna Benker (member) and Kari Mulholland (member).
