HOUSTON, TX – Eligible small and micro businesses can apply for grants between $ 5,000 and $ 25,000
WHO: Harris County approved the $ 30 million Small Business Relief Fund to support small and micro businesses that have suffered economic setbacks due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic since the spring 2020.
WHAT: The Small Business Relief Fund was established with funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and is administered on behalf of Harris County by LiftFund, a non-profit community development financial institution.
WHY: Many historically disadvantaged small businesses – including minority and women-owned businesses (MWBEs) – have struggled to keep their doors open during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Small Business Relief Fund offers these businesses a chance to overcome the barriers they typically face when seeking access to capital. The $ 30 million fund is a continuation of Harris County’s financial support for small businesses reeling from the economic impact of the pandemic. Since the start of the pandemic, Harris County has provided micro and small businesses with $ 40 million in assistance.
WHEN: Applications for the Small Business Fund will be accepted online for two weeks from Monday September 20 to Monday October 4.
