Affordable Housing and Veterans’ Organization Receives Funds from Partnership Grants Program

NATCHEZ, Mississippi, Nov. 09, 2022–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Home Bank and Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) provided $16,000 in funding through the Partnership Grants Program (PGP) to two community organizations in Natchez, Mississippi during a a check presentation ceremony on Tuesday.

Habitat offers low-cost, interest-free mortgages to eligible applicants while helping new homeowners build their homes with the help of volunteers. The nonprofit plans to use the proceeds for program operational, administrative, and running expenses.

Home with Heroes supports veterans in Adams County, Mississippi and Concordia Parish, Louisiana with free services. The organization plans to use the proceeds for emergency financial assistance, sponsorship of a veterans parade and other forms of assistance to veterans, such as helping them locate military records.

Kelvin Luster, senior vice president and director of community development at Home Bank, said PGP funds have a huge impact on small organizations.

“These investments can make a significant difference for small community service providers – enabling them to hire staff or increase their organizational capacity to have an even greater impact,” he said. “It is an honor for Home Bank to be able to contribute in this way.”

Habitat and Home with Heroes are two of seven local nonprofits that Home Bank is supporting with PGP funding this year. Together, Home Bank and FHLB Dallas donated more than $67,000 to seven community organizations in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.
