Credit card app ranking update


The first half of the year has been a busy one for mobile card apps as they add functionality and rack up downloads for a population who crack the code to pay for things with their smartphones.

That brings us to the latest update on the PYMNTS Credit Card App Provider Rankings.

Some rankings are quite changeable, while others tend to settle into a groove. This ranking is of the latter variety, with no app having moved since the last time we met here.

Let’s see what happened.

The first five

At No. 1, it’s Capital One, giving an alliterative start to a calm ranking.

With no one chasing her, it’s Chase Mobile at No.2 for another month.

Retaining its gain from the last cycle, we have Bank of America Mobile Banking at # 3.

Wells Fargo Mobile retains its No. 4 real estate after deciding not to take out personal lines of credit.

Looking at Alive at # 5, it was and still is the Credit One Bank Mobile app.

It was easy. Now let’s see below.

The Top 10

Loving the view of # 6, the Discover Mobile application remains at this position on the chart.

The same can be said for the American Express app, which is courting No.7 for another round.

Finally something different. That’s MySynchrony’s regular ranking, gaining two places since the last cycle to take 8th place in one of only two changes this time around.

The other change is coming, the PREMIER Credit Card application losing one place to occupy the 9th place in this new ranking of credit card application providers.

Keeping its grip on the # 10 position on the chart for a month, we have the Cards – Mobile Wallet app, which goes up and down, but never seems to stray from the top 10.

Way to be sticky, credit card application.
