Burlington man charged with stealing multiple vehicles using stolen credit card

JERICHO — A 39-year-old man from Burlington was arrested following an incident in Jericho yesterday.

Police said they were receiving phone calls about stolen items from vehicles overnight.

An investigation showed there were at least four victims in the Jericho area and a subsequent investigation showed one victim in the South Burlington area.

While gathering information, it was discovered that one of the stolen credit cards had been used to rent a hotel room in Burlington.

The Burlington Police Department attended the hotel and located Mike Thompson staying in a room on behalf of one of the victims.

Thompson was arrested by Burlington police and state police attended the scene, recovering numerous items stolen from the hotel room.

He was transported to the Burlington Police Department for treatment and was released on a court summons to face charges of identity theft, possession of stolen property and theft from a motor vehicle.

State Police are asking anyone who may have experienced or witnessed the night robberies to call Williston Barracks.
